In short
AirMouse turns your phone into a remote for your TV. It has no account, no servers of its own, no ads and no analytics. What you do with it goes from your phone to your TV, and stays there.
What AirMouse uses on your phone, and why
- Local network. To find TVs on your Wi-Fi (mDNS and SSDP discovery) and send them commands. Commands go straight from your phone to your TV. Some TVs, for example Roku, only accept unencrypted commands on the local network, so that traffic stays inside your home network.
- Bluetooth (Nearby devices). So your phone can act as a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for a TV, streaming stick or computer you pair it with. It is not used to find your location.
- Microphone. Only while you use voice search. Your speech is turned into text by your phone's speech recognition: on the phone itself where it supports that, otherwise by its speech recognition service (for example Google), which may process the audio online under its own privacy policy. AirMouse sends only the recognised words to your TV and does not record, store or upload audio itself.
- Motion sensors (gyroscope). Only while you hold or switch on the air mouse pointer, to move the pointer on your TV. Sensor readings are not stored.
- Notifications. Only to show volume and play / pause controls while a TV is connected.
What AirMouse stores
The TVs you pair (their names, addresses and connection keys) and your settings are stored on your phone only. Connection keys are encrypted with a key held in your phone's secure hardware that cannot be exported, and paired TVs are excluded from Android backups and device transfers. Nothing is sent to us.
Deleting your data: forget a TV in AirMouse (Your TVs › the TV › Forget), clear AirMouse's storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing else to delete.
Contacting support
If you choose Help › Contact support, your email app opens with a report you can read and edit before sending. It contains a random diagnostics ID created on your phone, the app and Android versions, and the results of the connection check. It is sent only if you send it, and used only to answer you.
Children
AirMouse is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Trademarks
AirMouse is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Samsung, LG or Roku. Their names are used only to describe which TVs AirMouse works with, and remain the trademarks of their owners.
